Selecting the Specification Content for your Case Study (Section A)

With your host identify, in each of the four sections below, relevant aspects that can be observed on your placement.
3.1.1 Designing and Innovation (i) Principles of designing;
(ii) Research Techniques;
(iii) Problem solving strategies;
(iv) qualitative and quantative data;
(v) Ergonomics & anthropometrics;
(vi) computer Systems for designing.
3.1.2 Product Analysis

(i) The process involved in design (or) production of a range of manufactured products;
(ii) form and function of different products;
(iii) trends, styles, new technical capabilities and social moral, political and ethical influences on design, production and the purpose of products;
(iv) International Standards ( Trade marks , copyrights etc)

3.2.1 Materials and components

(i) Materials and their potential application;
(ii) working characteristics of materials: physical, chemical and composite;
(iii) methods of creating materials with specific properties;
(iv) awareness of modem material technology;
(v) the choice of materials for a specific service requirements;
(vi) the choice of finishes for a specific service requirement;
(vii) components and their potential application.

3.2.2 Industrial and commercial practice

(i) The main features of manufacturing industry, including employment and commercial practices:
(ii) manufacturing systems, including one off, batch, high volume, brought in parts;
(iii) stages of production;
(iv) detailed manufacturing methods, when preparing, combining, manipulating or processing materials;
(v) managements system for production, quality assurance, organisation of equipment and people;
(vi) safe working practices, including identifying hazards and making risk assessments;
(vii) Industrial approaches.
