The complete design must be:

• Radical, bold and imaginative
• Appeal to the target audience of flat pack retailers such as Ikea or MFI
• Use Medium Density Fibreboard as a main material
• Fit economically into standard sheets to minimise waste and have a maximum of five main components
• Maximum size constraints is one sheet of 800x1200mm
• Exploit the properties of the material particularly its lack of grain, strength and free cutting ability
• The designs are to be manufactured commercially using a computer controlled router
• Be of simple construction (screw and glue or commercial fittings) to enable the design to be constructed at home with basic equipment
• To be fairly compact to ensure work is manageable, practical and affordable.
