General Background Information  
  In all your Background Information you must ensure you explain each of the Key Terms and say why your child is like the description you are giving.
Parent’s permission Letter of permission from parents stating that they agree to you doing your study on their child
Physical information Height/weight - compare to the norm, who do they follow?
Colouring - Eyes/Hair - whose genes have they got?
Special Features – glasses etc. - why are these needed?
Personality of the child

What is the child's personality like?
Who does this follow in their family?
How is the personality expressed by the child?

Child’s family Description
Type of Family - define the type of family
Family Tree
Child’s home Who lives there?
Do they have their own room? - how does this help?
Draw a layout of the house and garden.
Is the house safe? Make a safety questionnaire to ask the parents, mark out the safety items on the layout of the house.
Daily Routine Give an example of the child’s daily routine.
(e.g. feeding times, bath, toilet, play, nursery)

Education Does the child go to pre-school or nursery?
The history of the child Describe the events that have already happened to the child.
Birth What was the birth like?
Feeding Was the child breast/bottle fed?
Has this shown in the child in any way?
Did the mother having any problems with feeding?
How did she overcome this?

Baby What was the child like as a baby?
Did they sleep?
Were there any problems?
Discuss nursery equipment with the child’s parents!
Which were useful?
Which was a waste of money?
Which were well designed?

Child care Who cares for the child?
Does this help with their social development?
