In the Play/Activity you have to 'identify a need' of the child. This means you have to look at the comparisons you have made between the child's age and the norms, and find an area where they are not reaching average ability. You must then produce an activity that you can complete with child to develop that particular skill. |
Selecting and Planning Activity | The
need of your child can be from any area of the PIES. |
Relating Activity to need | You should
then investigate into the types of activites that could solve that need. Then decide upon the activity you feel best fits the need and discuss how. Try and be original! |
Carrying Out and Recording Task | You must plan the the task to show resources, time,
equipment, etc in the same way as would for a visit. |
Evaluating | Be critical about the task, say what things were enjoyed
or disliked. Talk about the planning of the task, the resources you made, and YOU MUST TALK about the value of the activity, ie how it helped the child. Dont be afraid to talk about the interaction between you and child and the level of enjoyment shown. |
